Feel Good Story of the Year

Sound: Ding Dong (Doorbell)

Heard: Is your mom or dad home? Can you give this to them? (Recognizes landlord's voice)

Read: Pursuant to the Residential Tenancies Act and Regulations, for the month of January, in the year Two Thousand and Eleven, due to personal reasons not here-in stated on my behalf, there shall be no rent charged to the Tenant's located at Twenty Jeffery Avenue, Apt Number Two in Hilden, NS.  This is the agreed amount of seven hundred dollars monthly.

For all intents and purposes, the tenants, as named in the Standard Form Lease, The Barrington's, are paid in full.  Normal payments will continue in the amount of $700 monthly on February 1st, in the year 2011 and continue as such for the duration of the Lease.

Let the record state as per this document that the Tenant's as named have not asked for, or in any way solicited this arrangement.  The money is not, and shall not be expected at any later date under any circumstances, either implicit or implied.

Felt: STUNNED ~ AMAZED ~ CONFUSED ~ JOY~ RELIEF~

I don't have the words right now.  Still wondering if I am going to wake up.  Our landlord (Colin Hill) has truly touched our hearts and instilled something I haven't felt in some time.....hope for mankind.

During a lengthy conversation in December, Colin told me he knew how difficult it must be for our family, as he watched mother and father struggle with his dad's health conditions that (when diagnosed),were often dismissed. After his final diagnosis, his family, like others, were placed in a situation where they had to choose between their home/job/belongings, or their health.  Financial troubles were the main focus in their lives, when it should have been on getting well.  Unfortunately Colin's father lost his battle and past away but he wanted to do something for a group or charity as he usually assists with Operation Christmas Child.  I guess that group/charity was my family :).
